A Walk through Time was written in the first year of embarking on my musical career, a period of intense personal growth, change and self discovery. It was the beginning of a long, exciting and humbling journey; a momentous "leap of faith" after 15 years of musical training and preparation. The album reflects the excitement, heartbreak, deep yearning and challenges I faced as well as the many triumphs, successes and beautiful memories that spanned this period in my life. I wrote in a variety of styles fusing a broad range of musical cultures and genres to achieve my vision. Some of the influences you will hear include musical styles from India, Asia, Africa, Latin America, South America, the Middle East, Ireland, Scotland, American roots as well as western classical, contemporary (new age), popular and modern styles, influences from motion pictures and jazz. Each composition is unique, deeply reflecting a particular experience, emotion, place and time in my life. I use visual metaphors to subjectively illustrate the theme of each composition which each title represents. These metaphors in turn slowly evolved to become deep and meaningful philosophical ponderings on life and the world as each composition was born. (often accompanied by tears of joy and sorrow.) It was my intent in writing this album that my listeners would be able to hear, recognize and relate to the emotions I was experiencing and be able to personalize each composition to their own life. In turn, you... my listeners would experience some of the same healing I did while writing each composition. My hope is that the music helps reminds us of our collective humanity, a reminder of unity in diversity, and a knowing that we are more intrinsically connected to one another than we sometimes realize/recognize. Music allows us this great medium for connection. It is my intent through writing these compositions to help interpret, understand and communicate feelings and the common humanity we all share, ultimately leading us into a kind of "musical communion" with one another and with the rest of the world.
